Intravaginal Insemination (IVI)

What is IVI infertility treatment?

Pregnancy is like a dream for most couples, but getting pregnant can be difficult if they are suffering from infertility issues. If couples are having problems conceiving, they go for different reproductive treatments to increase the chance of pregnancy. IVI (Intravaginal Insemination) is also an infertility treatment that helps infertile couples to conceive. It is artificial insemination, minimally invasive, and non-surgical process which can also be performed at home.

Who Will Get Benefited By IVI Treatment?

However, IVI is less common than other types of infertility treatment but it is a valuable process. In this process, sperm is directly placed inside the vagina which increases the chances of fertilization. Doctors recommend this treatment only to those couples who are facing specific infertility problems. It is often used when the female healthy and fertile but the male partner is not able to ejaculate during intercourse. IVI infertility treatment is best for you if you are facing a problem with regular ovulation.

In some cases, IVI treatment is also used with surrogacy or donor insemination. At Vansh test tube center, we use sperm with good morphology and motility for a good success rate. The timing of the procedure is the key to success in this treatment. So, our reproductive endocrinologist recommends this procedure at the time of ovulation. Urine test is also performed before the procedure to check surge in LH (luteinizing hormone) which indicates the starting of ovulation.  Mainly there are two methods of IVI treatment; Syringe and Cervical cap method.

  • Syringe method: In the syringe method, the reproductive endocrinologist uses a needle-less syringe to transfer the sperm inside the vagina.
  • Cervical cap method: In the cervical cap method, a cervical cap is used to insert the sperm as close as possible to the cervix.

What Is The Success Rate Of IVI Treatment?

The success rate in IVI treatment is not so high like other infertility treatments because sperm must have to travel through the cervix, into the uterus, and then the fallopian tube. However, there is a 10 percent chance of pregnancy in this treatment. At Vansh test tube clinic, we use ovulation-inducing medication or washed sperm which increases the success rate to 30 percent after each treatment cycle.
